Music makes us smile

We created our In-Tune Teambuilding workshops upon the melding of two concepts.  The first is a simple universal truth.  The second is a unique solution to a pervasive business problem today.

1) Music makes us smile.

2) Playing music together can enhance your team.  In just one (FUN!) afternoon with your work group, our workshop can enhance communication, trust, empathy, and just build your team's strength.

To address the first point, we'll ask you to think of your favorite song, or beyond that, a favorite memory of a concert, dance, wedding.  Did you smile?  What do you do in times of stress?  Do you turn to the news in your commute home, or do you blast your favorite song from the halcyon days of youth?

For some data toward the former point, we'll point to this article from Harvard Health Publishing.

  • "Music listeners had higher scores for mental well-being and slightly reduced levels of anxiety and depression compared to people overall."
  • "Of survey respondents who currently go to musical performances, 69% rated their brain health as “excellent” or “very good,” compared to 58% for those who went in the past and 52% for those who never attended."
  • "Of those who reported often being exposed to music as a child, 68% rated their ability to learn new things as “excellent” or “very good,” compared to 50% of those who were not exposed to music."
  • "Active musical engagement, including those over age 50, was associated with higher rates of happiness and good cognitive function."
  • "Adults with no early music exposure but who currently engage in some music appreciation show above average mental well-being scores."

The Turnover Tsunami is pounding every workforce.  Let's chat about how our engaging workshops can be one component of your engagement and retention strategy.  It's valuable, and it's unique, and it's FUN!
